About Me

Hey there!

Welcome to my new site(it’s still a work in progress, but it’s better than nothing, right?)! I want to work on this page to tell you more, but for now, here’s a few things about me.

I never set out to be a photographer, it just kind of happened. In high school I had a little Minolta point and shoot automatic film camera–just to take pictures with friends in all the activities I was involved in. One of my best friends asked me to take some pictures for her “because you just got a new camera”–HA! She begged and I gave in even though I insisted I had no idea how to take pictures like she wanted. We took pictures at her house and when we got them developed at Walmart, even I couldn’t believe I had taken them…they were actually pretty good and some looked like we took them in a studio! Anyway, she used them as her senior pictures, and I’m from a really small town and so everyone saw them and people started asking me to take pictures for them. I just made them pay for the film and development(because obviously I was not a photographer!). Fast forward a bit…I went to Texas Tech University to study to be a Physical Therapist, but after my first semester I started to wonder if I might want to do something else like nursing. I had taken a public speaking class and had to do a speech using visual aids so I took the easy route and printed out some black and white 8×10 photos I’d taken and did my speech on black and white photography–HA! It’s really lucky that no one in my class knew anything about photography because I just kind of winged it and made up a bunch of stuff about contrast, etc. I’d never taken a single photography class or lesson or even read a book about photography! But I got an A because I spoke well and my teacher was impressed with the photos and asked me to take headshots for her. As I walked back to my dorm with my poster, the wind was blowing like crazy so a girl held the door open for me as I tried to keep it from blowing away. She saw the poster and said “oh, are you a photography major?” And I was like, “that’s a thing?” Seriously. That’s the first time I even considered photography as more than a camera in my pocket to take pics with friends.  And then began my slide into photography. I took Basic Photography the next semester and fell in love.

Sure, I learned all the technical things about photography and studios and lighting and developing film and editing and all the things you can learn in a classroom or workshop…but my “eye” for photography is purely a God-given gift!

I love love. I love to capture love and emotions and relationships and moments that you can treasure for many years to come! I am an extreme extrovert and love to get to know new people, so usually by the time I actually get to the shoot with my clients, we have become familiar and become friends by the end! So many clients tell me that they’ve never had so much fun at a photo session before and we just all end up having fun together. I love that I get to build relationships with people and end up sharing so many moments through the years with them from engagements, then weddings, then pregnancies and babies and families…it just makes me happy!

Let’s get together, have some fun, and then end up with some great images that you will love!
